The Edge of Stigma: An Audit of the Effects of Low-Level Criminal Records on Employment
While misdemeanor convictions still negatively impact a job applicants' employment prospects, they are not as disqualifying as felony convictions. Both white and Black applicants with a misdemeanor arrest were approximately 4% less likely to receive a callback compared to their counterparts who did not have any arrest.
